As part of Seattle Children’s new Major Institution Master Plan, Seattle Children’s asked Spectrum to lead the effort in identifying a site for employer-assisted workforce housing.
Spectrum identified a University of Washington-owned parcel within three miles of Seattle Children’s campus, which lead to a partnership with the University of Washington in the development of apartment housing for staff and faculty of both institutions.
As a result, the University of Washington leased the property to a private developer to build 184 units. Spectrum acted as the owner’s representative for Seattle Children’s Hospital and the University of Washington during negotiations and throughout the development.
Thirty percent of the apartment homes are set aside for families earning no more than 75% of AMI for the next twenty years. Employees from both institutions receive priority for all the homes ranging in unit size from studios to one-bedroom, two-and three-bedroom apartments.
